Spring Growth at Grow With Me

Those seeds, so tenderly nurtured and planted this winter and early spring, are growing!  We have held a couple of open houses and welcomed some wonderful new families into the Grow With Me Cooperative!  Together, we have been busy.

Last weekend, under sunny, blue skies, many Grow With Me families came together to enhance our outdoor playspace.  We bravely pulled poison ivy, cut back thorns and limbs to create a child-sized tunnel through a ravine, where the kids love to run, along with their imaginations.  We moved our garden boxes to a sunnier patch where they await more soil and plants!  From a neighbor’s tree, we acquired a mound of stumps, which we rolled and carried to   create a sand pit.    At the end of our morning’s work, we enjoyed a potluck lunch and our children’s laughter as they jumped around on the stumps and dug in the sand pit we had just created, together.

This Saturday, June 2nd, we’ll host another Open House and welcome interested families to join us from 10:30 until noon!  We recommend reading our handbook to learn more about our program.  If you have additional questions, please contact us via our contact page or by phone, 337-4710.

We have also begun a second parent-led playgroup for 2 and 3 year olds.   The playgroup will meet this summer on Tuesdays from 10-12 and is led by parents who rotate through the roles of lead, snack and clean-up.  One week you stay with your child and the next, you drop them off.  If you are interested in joining this group, or would like more information, please email us via our contact page.

May your gardens, projects and dreams also grow strongly this spring!

Loose Ends & Springing Ahead…

The months of January and February were incredibly busy everywhere that I looked.  So many things were started and not finished.  Snow and illness kept many of things for coming into completion….it had myself and our families changing plans at the last minute….and rhythm was hard to find when we DID have school.

But, the sunshine and warmth returned and filled up every part of me.  It has filled our classroom again with regular activity and rhythm.  It’s a beautiful thing.

I am most productive in the Spring, as I am guessing many others are.  With the warmth and sun that we’ve had recently I have begun to finish many in-progress projects…and I’ve finished a handful as well.  Here is a sneak peek of the things to come….for our classroom.  Please bear in mind that this is a *small* peek into the things to come; as I have baskets full of things to complete! (sewing on doll heads, making doll clothing, finishing some crowns, and the like….are on my list of to-dos)

These are early signs of Spring,

When flowers bloom and robins sing,

From their safe warm winter beds,

Flowers pop their little heads.

These are the early signs of Spring,

When flowers bloom and robins sing.

These Flower Babies will be joining us tomorrow in Our Classroom.  They are completed-PHEW!  I got inspiration from http://twigandtoadstool.blogspot.com/ ….I had to create them immediately—knowing that it was the exact thing for our seasonal table.  Right now they are tucked ever so tightly into their leaf sleeping bags….and waiting ever so patiently to meet their friends tomorrow in class!

Until then,

Michelle

Old Man Winter

Old Man Winter came out one day

And said I am going to make this a very cold day.

So he blew to the South, WOOOO

To the East, WOOOO

To the West, WOOOO

And when he blew to the North, WOOOO

He said that’s the best.

The Old North Wind is my very best friend

And when we get to play we make a very cold day.

Limited space available

As we approach our class start date, Sept. 7, we are happy to welcome new families into our community. We do have some limited availability for enrollment. The Preschool class is still accepting girls 3 & 4 years old, and the Kindergarten class has only two spaces for either a boy or girl 5-6 yo. If you would like more information or would like to visit our space and meet some of the parents and teachers, leave us a comment and we’ll get in touch!

Enrolling for fall-Waldorf inspired Kindergarten

Welcome!  We have enjoyed the Grow with Me Learning Co-op and are so happy to share it!  The Kindergarten program is quite special…we have created a beautiful space to nurture our 4 1/2-6yos in a magical way.  We are the only cooperative that has a strong Waldorf influence and we follow the Oak Meadow K curriculum, which does lend itself to preparation for schooling in many methods.  I think this class is the perfect solution for someone who is looking for a gentle transition to group schooling, who is homeschooling but would love to have support and community (especially with multiple children), who is interested in the Waldorf model and who wants this at a reasonable cost, who turns 5 after Aug. & misses the new age “cut off” for kindergarten, or who really wants to be present with their children in their learning environment without all the responsibility of planning & executing.
GWM is a community of young children and parents, seeking to create a cooperative learning program that facilitates social, spiritual, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth in a loving, supportive atmosphere. We nurture a respect for self, others, and nature while providing a safe environment for our children to stretch their imaginations and to explore their interests.

We offer a unique program with trained teachers leading the classes and parents rotating as assistants.  Quality programming, natural materials, invested caregivers, affordable tuition, and exceptional classroom and outdoor play space conveniently located in East Asheville.  We draw inspiration from the Waldorf model of education, following the values of Reverence, Repetition, and Rhythm.
